If you are an Allstate insured and you are sued as a result of a car accident, motorcycle accident, pedestrian accident, because your dogbit someone or because someone was injured on your property, provided the particular incident is a “covered loss,” Allstate will retain an attorney to defend you in the lawsuit.  A “covered loss” is an insurance industry term and means the injured person’s claim is covered under the terms of your insurance policy. 

There is a better than average chance that the attorney Allstate Insurance Company hires to defend you will be from the law firm of G. Patrick Collins & Associates.  G. Patrick Collins & Associates is what is referred to as “captive counsel” meaning their attorneys only do work for Allstate Insurance Company.  In fact G. Patrick Collins & Associates’ law firm letterhead specifically states: “All attorneys are employees of Allstate Insurance Company.”  So if you happen to be at the courthouse and an attorney introduces themselves as the attorney for the defendant and says they are with the law firm of G. Patrick Collins & Associates, the likelihood is extremely high that the attorney is in court defending someone insured by Allstate.
