On Wednesday morning a young pit bull dog somehow boarded a Pasadena Independent School District bus where it attacked and injured sixth grader Selena Diaz: the attack was recorded on a cell phone camera. Officials have announced that the 42 lb dog will be euthanized today or tomorrow, and tested for rabies. A Channel 2 news story explains that the school district was told by the bus driver that the dog went under the divider, then ran beneath the rows of seats emerging near the back of the school bus. The dog bit Selena several times on the lower leg, drawing blood. Renea Ivy-Sims, an assistant superintendent, said the bus driver was not on his afternoon route on Friday and would face disciplinary measures, but did not elaborate further. Selena's mother Angie Diaz said the girl is now back at school.
