South 610 Loop car accident ejects and kills little girl

A single vehicle accident on Houston's South 610 Loop has claimed the life of a little girl believed to be three years old.  A Mitsubishi Montero SUV was in the westbound lanes of the South Loop around 2:30 p.m. Friday near Telephone Road when the vehicle went onto a grassy median, apparently causing the driver to over-correct sending the vehicle into a rollover. The little girl was thrown out of the car and died at the scene. The male driver was rushed to the hospital. Police believe excessive speed was a primary cause of the deadly crash and are checking to see if alcohol was a factor also. Detectives have yet to determine if the girl was properly restrained in a car seat at the time. Channel 2 report here. Chronicle report here.

Update: per an article from Channel 11 News, the driver of the Mitsubishi, Roberto Trevino, has been charged with murder in connection with this accident. Police say Trevino was driving while intoxicated at the time of the rollover accident that ejected and killed his 4-year old daughter, Chloe Trevino. Trevino was restrained by his seat belt and was essentially unhurt in the accident. Chloe, who should have been in a child seat but wasn't, was pronounced dead at the scene.
