Fatal motorcycle accident on Kingsland Boulevard

Channel 13 is reporting that a 28-year old motorcyclist was critically injured when he crashed his motorcycle into the rear of a minivan while traveling on Kingsland Boulevard near Highway 59.  The man was transported by life flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital. While Channel 13's report indicated that the motorcyclist survived the crash, a story on Channel 2's web site states that the man was killed in the accident. According to Channel 2, deputies believe the motorcycle may have been speeding in excess of 100 MPH at the time of the crash. The rider suffered a severe head injury, possibly in part because the chin strap on his helmet was not properly adjusted. Some interesting comments to the Channel 2 article question whether the motorbike could really have been traveling 100 MPH at the time it impacted the minivan due to the relatively minor damage to the front forks and wheel of the motorcycle.
