Drunk Driver arrested after crash on Spring Branch near Laverne

A man has been charged with drunk driving after a crash the early hours of Sunday morning that injured his two passengers. At around 1:15 a.m. the man was traveling on westbound Spring Branch near Laverne when he lost control on the wet road. The car slid sideways before crashing into a tree: a male and female passenger were transported to the hospital in a serious but stable condition. The driver was reportedly arrested at the scene when he failed a sobriety test. Clearly this driver didn't intend to hit a tree, but of all the things a vehicle can collide with a tree has to be one of the worst. Large trees are extremely sturdy and have no "give" so very little of the impact forces are dispersed away from the vehicle occupants. Channel 11's report.
