Family hurt in major car accident on Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land

Two adults and three children were hospitalized after a serious car accident at 1:15 a.m. on the Southwest Freeway feeder at Grand Parkway in Sugar Land. According to Channel 11's report a white Ford pickup truck crashed into the side of a small, black-colored Nissan hatchback traveling northbound on Grand Parkway. Life Flight was called for at least one patient, others were transported by ground ambulance. The driver of the pickup was treated at the scene for minor injuries: the news story did not indicate which driver ran the red light.

This is a scary accident for adults, never mind kids. I hope they all come through okay.

Update: Channel 2's story on the accident states that four people were injured, and that the black colored vehicle is a Toyota Prius. The story states that the adults in the front seats of the hatchback both suffered broken legs. If the adults in the front seats are the children's parents, imagine trying to take care of kids when both parents have broken legs. Channel 13's article states that the adults in the car are the parents.

Driver high on PCP kills two in accident at Kirby Drive Shell station

Early this morning a man and woman were killed in an accident shortly after making some purchases at a Shell gas station on Kirby Drive near the Southwest Freeway, and police believe the driver responsible was high on Phencyclidine (PCP) at the time. The man and woman were in a blue-colored Chevrolet Impala and were stopped waiting to leave the gas station parking lot to turn right on the service road when the driver's side of their vehicle was hit by the suspect traveling at a high rate of speed. The suspect's vehicle appears to be an Impala also, only black. The victims were killed instantly. Police say the driver who caused the accident seemed to have little comprehension of what happened: he was taken to Ben Taub to be checked out and will face two counts of intoxication manslaughter. Update: the male victim of this crash is Richey Quinton. An outpouring of grief and fond memories can be read on Richey's Facebook page. Richey graduated George Bush High School in Richmond, Texas in 2006.  The suspect arrested and charged with the death of Richey and his passenger is 33-year old Theodore Adolphus Hargrove of Houston.
